The country’s export sector is returning to success after overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. Last October, the export revenue was about 473 crore dollars, which is the highest ever revenue in a single month. Growth is more than 60%. The previous month, September, also saw a 38% growth. As a result, the export sector has seen success for two consecutive months. This is according to the latest figures released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Tuesday (2 November).
According to the EPB, the revenue from export of goods in October was 472 crore and 75 lac dollars. This revenue has increased by 60.37% more than the same period of last fiscal year. In October 2020, the revenue from the export of goods was 294 crore and 78 lac dollars. The previous month, September, also saw a record export of goods worth 416 crore and 54 lac dollars, a growth of 38%.
According to the EPB, Bangladesh earned a total of 1 thousand 574 crore and 94 lac dollars in the first four months of the fiscal year July-October, which is 22.62% more than the same period last year. The total revenue from readymade garments in four months is 1 thousand 262 crore and 11 lac dollars. Growth has been 20.78%. Of this, knitwear exports amounted to 721 crore dollars, a growth of 24%. Woven products exports stood at 541 crore dollars, a growth of 16.41%.
According to the EPB, the export of agricultural products in October was 35 crore and 88 lac dollars. Compared to the same period a year ago, the revenue increased by 29.34%. Income from pharmaceuticals export has increased by 31.60%. The export is 8 crore 22 lac dollars. Revenue from plastic products has increased by 29%. The revenue has been 3 crore and 56 lac dollars. Exports of leather and leather products increased by 28.85%. The revenue has been 28 crore and 32 lac dollars.
In addition, the revenue of home textile has been 41 crore and 27 lac dollars. The growth has been 16.52%. Ceramics grew by 26.42%. Revenue rose to 39 lac dollars, and growth of engineering products was 142.49%. The revenue has been 33 crore and 97 lac dollars.
