Chandpur is the meeting place of the Padma-Meghna and Dakatiya rivers. Every year tourists come from different parts of the country to see its immense beauty. The country’s first private river-centric tourism centre is going to be established in this district. Various aspects of the liberation war will be highlighted. The Japanese-funded project will cover an area of about 600 acres. A preliminary study has already been started by a private organisation and the River Research Institute.
The Blue River Island Resort and Tourism Club, the entrepreneurial organisation behind this centre, is quite optimistic about establishing an international standard tourist centre once they get approval from the government. The construction of the infrastructure will take place in three steps. Through the implementation of this private sector project, Chandpur can become a potential district for tourism development.
Helicopters, river cruises, and cable cars will be available at the proposed tourist centre, where 20 thousand tourists can spend the night at the same time.
