The depots of the companies under Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation have sufficient fuel oil stock. At present, there is no scarcity or shortage of fuel oil in the country. There is no danger of shortage either. Already, the process of importing essential oil for the next 6 months is in the pipeline.

This was specified in a statement of the Energy Department on Wednesday (27 July). It also said that 4 lacs 31 thousand and 835 metric tonnes of diesel are currently stored. Daily average sales are 13 thousand and 607 metric tonnes in 32 days. Jet-A-1 has a stock of 44 days and Furnace Oil has a stock of 32 days.

According to the statement, Bangladesh produces all the petrol. Bangladesh produces about 40% of octane.
In July of this year, 2 lacs and 55 thousand metric tonnes of diesel from 9 ships, 43 thousand metric tonnes of Jet-A-1 in two ships, 24 thousand and 677 metric tonnes of octane from one ship, and 53 thousand and 358 metric tonnes of furnace oil from two ships have already been released.

In August, 2 lacs and 18 thousand metric tonnes of diesel will arrive on eight ships, 25 thousand metric tonnes of Jet-A-1 on one ship, and 25 thousand metric tonnes of octane on one ship.

Fuel oil will come to Bangladesh according to the import plan for the next 6 months. 50% of this was procured through a G2G contract and the remaining 50% through open tender. So there is no risk of shortage.

The Department of Energy and Mineral Resources has requested to be frugal in the use of subsidised fuel oil.
