Japanese companies keen to invest in Bangladesh

A view exchange meeting between a delegation of Shimizu Corporation of Japan and the leaders of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) was held at the World Trade Centre in the city on Wednesday.

Addressing the programme, CCCI President Mahbubul Alam said Japan is a tested friend of Bangladesh. Japan is implementing mega projects including the Matarbari Deep Seaport and third terminal of Dhaka airport in Bangladesh.

He also informed about the launching of Japan Desk at the Chittagong Chamber with the view to expedite the existing trade relation between the two countries. He called for joint investment with Bangladeshi business people apart from working for skill development in different sectors including engineering and construction.

Shimizu Corporation’s Kashiwamura Akira said large Japanese companies are interested to invest in Bangladesh. In this regard, Chattogram is geographically important, he observed.

 Shimizu Corporation is keen to work in civil and mechanical engineering, and technical sectors, especially in the overall private sector construction, in partnership with Bangladeshi firms.
