Bangladesh Navy rescued 14 fishermen stranded in the Bay of Bengal for 8 days

Bangladesh Navy rescued 14 fishermen from a fishing boat that had been stranded in the Bay of Bengal for eight days due to engine failure. On 28 November, the Navy ship BNS Anushandhan rescued the fishing boat ‘FV Mariam’ along with the fisherman.

This information was given in a press release sent from Bangladesh Navy. According to the press release, on 16 November, the fishing boat with 14 fishermen went to sea for fishing. During the voyage, the boat’s engine failed, and it remained stranded for eight days. Later, on patrol Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Anushandhan rescued the fishermen. Bangladesh Navy ship’s crew provided first aid and necessary food and water to the rescued fishermen on an emergency basis.

The 14 fishermen rescued were Monir Ahmed (boatman), Nawab Mia (son of the boat owner), Saifuddin, Salamutullah, Kashem, Shahadat Hossain, Salauddin, Abdur Rahim, Karim, Rabi Alam, Russell, Ansar, Selim and Jabbar. They are residents of the Maheshkhali area.
