A warning has been issued at Benapole international immigration and land Port in Jessore to prevent a new variant of COVID-19 Omicron infection. On Tuesday evening (30 November), Dr. Azim Uddin from Benapole immigration confirmed the matter.
“We have been given a letter from the health department in the morning warning us to prevent the spread of Omicron,” he said. Passengers carrying passports from the United Kingdom, South Africa, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Botswana, Israel, and Mauritius must be kept in mandatory institutional quarantine. In addition, every passenger with passports from India is being entered into immigration in accordance with the health rules including body temperature measurement.
Moniruzzaman, Director (traffic) of Benapole land port, said trucks carrying imported goods from India are being sprayed with disinfectant to prevent the spread of a new variant of COVID-19 Omicron infection. Truck drivers and helpers have been instructed to adhere to hygiene rules at the port, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and masks. Ansar members have also been instructed to ensure that the drivers and helpers do not leave the port.
