The Ministry of Labour and Employment has awarded the Green Factory Award-2020 to 30 companies in six sectors. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest at the award ceremony on Wednesday (8 December) at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. The Prime Minister joined the ceremony virtually via video conference from Ganobhaban.
Emphasizing on the need for good relations between employers and workers to keep the industrial production system afloat as well as increase the pace of exports, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “I will always make a request to everyone, including our employers and workers, that employers and workers should have a good and friendly relationship.”
She said employers should always keep in mind that these workers run their factories with their labour and help them to make a living. At the same time, workers need to keep in mind that having a factory allows them to work, earn a living, or support themselves financially. So if the factory isn’t operating properly, they will suffer losses.
Addressing the workers, the Prime Minister said, “You have to take care of the factory which provides you with food, and your livelihood. A lot of times we see leaders of labour groups or quarters trying to create a turbulent environment through provocation.”
She further said that in a competitive world, if factories, production, and exports are to be run properly, then steps need to be taken to ensure that the factories run smoothly. If there is a turbulent environment, then exports will stop, and working conditions will be poor. The workers will also lose their jobs.
