176 businessmen gets CIP status

The government has selected 138 traders as Commercially Important Persons (CIPs) for their contribution to the export of goods. Apart from this, 38 directors of FBCCI, the apex body of traders, have also been accorded CIP status from the trade category. The Ministry of Commerce has published a gazette this week mentioning the names of 176 people for 2018, consisting of two types of CIPs.

According to the published gazette, the government has selected these persons as CIPs as per the CIP (Export) Policy-2013 as they have made significant contributions in the export trade of the country.

The selected persons (Exports) will enjoy all types of CIP benefits for the next year. After one year has passed, they will remain CIPs till the announcement of new CIPs the next year. However, the term of the CIPs selected from the FBCCI will remain in force till the tenure of their organization or the next CIP announcement, whichever comes earlier.
