Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in the Maldives on a six-day visit on Wednesday (22 December). Sheikh Hasina is paying a bilateral visit at the invitation of Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih. Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim informed this.
Ihsanul Karim said that a special VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines with the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Velana International Airport in Male, the capital of Maldives, at 3 pm local time. The Maldivian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs welcomed the Prime Minister at the airport.
Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque, and Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed are accompanying the Prime Minister on her visit.
During the Prime Minister’s visit, a total of four MoUs on health, education, dual taxation, youth, and sports will be signed between the two countries. In addition, at the request of the Maldives Defense Department, the Bangladesh Army will present 13 military vehicles to the Maldives as a token of friendship. They will be formally handed over to the Maldivian Defence Department during the Prime Minister’s visit.
