The Commerce Minister hopes to achieve the target of exports worth 52 billion dollars

Considering the overall export situation of the country, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi sees the possibility of exporting goods worth 52 billion in the current fiscal year.
The Commerce Minister expressed this hope at a press conference held at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal on Friday (31 December) on the occasion of the International Trade Fair.

For the first time, the 26th trade fair is being held at the newly constructed exhibition centre in the Purbachal suburb instead of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar ground in Agargaon, Dhaka.

At the press conference, the Commerce Minister said that such an arrangement of the fair facilitates the marketing and introduction of Bangladeshi products worldwide. This year, an export target worth 52 billion dollars has been set. This is a big goal but we are moving towards it. This time it seems that the export target will be met.

Exports have been growing at 18 to 22% for the last three months; Bangladesh is seeing record export earnings in a single month. Exporters are hoping that the trend will continue if the pandemic situation is controlled.

It was informed at the press conference that a total of 23 pavilions, 27 mini pavilions, 162 stalls, and 15 food stalls have been allotted to local and foreign companies in different categories in this year’s fair.

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, EPB Vice-Chairman AHM Ahsan, and Additional Secretary to the Commerce Ministry Hafizur Rahman were present at the press conference.
