Songa Cheetah took 20 days to reach Italy

Container ship Songa Cheetah

The ship Songa Cheetah, which left Chittagong port with ready-made garments, reached the port of Ravenna in Italy 20 days later. The ship arrived on Sunday (27 February), according to Bangladeshi representatives on board.

The container ship MV Songa Cheetah started its journey from Chittagong port to the Italian port of Ravenna at around 3 pm on the 7th of this month. It is the first ship to transport container goods directly from Chittagong to Italy.

Previously, in order to take goods to Italy, goods were first taken on feeder ships from Chittagong to Singapore or the port of Colombo in Sri Lanka. After getting booked there, it was transferred over to the big ships going to Europe. It was then taken to Italy from major European ports. It required more time and money. Now it is easier to take container goods directly by feeder ship in less time and at a lower cost.
