Decision to abandon MV ‘Banglar Samriddhi’

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has decided to abandon MV ‘Banglar Samriddhi’, a ship damaged in a rocket attack in Ukraine. The ship is covered by an insurance policy. The company informed the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) about this. This was reported by Banik Barta, citing DSE sources.

The MV ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ reached the port of Olvia in Ukraine on 24 February. On the same day, Russia launched an attack on the country. As a result, all activities at the port of Olvia were stopped. The Bangladeshi ship was stuck. At the same time, 29 sailors including the captain of the ship were trapped.

MV ‘Banglar Samriddhi’ was the victim of a Russian rocket attack at 9 pm Bangladesh time last Wednesday. When the ship caught fire, the sailors brought it under control. Hadisur Rahman, the ship’s third engineer, was killed in the attack.
