Chairman of the Port Authority Rear Admiral M Shahjahan and board members are laying wreaths at the memorial

Chittagong Port Authority has paid homage to the memory of the heroic martyrs who were killed in the liberation war on Independence Day and National Day. Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Chairman of the port authority, and board members laid a wreath at the monument at the Port Republic premises on Saturday (26 March) morning. Afterward, Port Muktijoddha Command Council, Port Officers Association, Port Employees’ Council, port-run educational institutions, and various organisations paid their respects by laying wreaths. After laying the wreaths, the port Chairman exchanged greetings with the leaders of various organisations and students who were present. Later, the port Chairman attended the Independence Day discussion meeting, award distribution, and cultural program as the chief guest at the Shahid Fazlur Rahman Munshi auditorium.
In the discussion meeting, the Chairman of the port said, ‘Under the able and far-sighted leadership of Bangabandhu, we got Bangladesh, got an independent territory, got our map, got our flag. The development of the country came to a standstill with the assassination of Bangabandhu. It is our responsibility to make Bangabandhu’s dream of building a golden Bengal come true. We are moving forward to the level of a developed country under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of Bangabandhu.’
Addressing the students, he said, ‘We have a responsibility to improve the country that Bangabandhu gave us. It is our responsibility to lead in the future. That is why the new generation has to be competent so that we can continue the trend of development. We have to work efficiently and honestly from our respective places to support implementing the initiative taken by Hon’ble Prime Minister to build Bangabandhu’s golden Bengal.’
At the time, the port Board Member (Administration and Planning) Md. Zafar Alam, President of the Port Employees’ Council Md. Azim, General Secretary Naibul Islam Fatik, Port Authority High School student Zakaria Omar and Port Women’s College student Fairuz Humaira Munni.
At the end of the discussion, the Chairman of the port authority distributed prizes among the winners of the essay, drawing, and quiz competition organised with the participation of the students of the educational institution of the port. Later, the students recited poems, danced, and sang songs.
Port board members, directors, department heads, sub-department heads, teachers, and students were present on the occasion.
