Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the Padma Multipurpose Bridge will be opened for traffic by next June.
He made the remarks at a meeting to review the progress of construction work on the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project in the conference room of the Bridge Department on Sunday (3 April) morning.
Obaidul Quader said that the actual progress of the work of the main bridge of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge project is about 97%, the actual progress of river management work is about 90.50% and the overall progress of the project is about 92%. The progress of carpeting work of the main bridge is approximately 65.68%.
Additionally, the progress of laying gas pipelines is approximately 99% and the progress of laying 400 KVA power lines is about 79%, he said.
Secretary of the Bridge Department and the Executive Director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority Md. Manzur Hossain chaired the meeting. Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Project Director Md. Shafiqul Islam and senior officials of the Bridge Department and concerned authorities were present.
