Chittagong Port Authority has issued a warning to stop the spread of monkeypox. All ships arriving at the port have been asked to follow the directions. The warning was issued on Sunday (29 May) in a circular signed by Chittagong Port Authority Deputy Conservator Captain Faridul Alam.
The notification said that the ship’s crew or any officers cannot disembark from the ship to the jetty without urgent need and without the prior permission of the Port Health Officer (PHO). The crew must undergo a health check-up under the Port Health Officer (PHO) before out passing at the port’s immigration gate (gate-1).
In addition, any person on board is instructed to report directly to the port’s control room and to the port health officer if there are any symptoms of monkeypox.
In this case, shipping or cargo operations will be conducted based on the inspection report of the Port Health Officer (PHO).
