Case filed against 8 people in connection with fire at BM container depot

Police have filed a case against eight people in connection with the explosion at the BM container depot in Chattogram’s Sitakunda. The accused in the case are all officers of different levels of the depot. Sitakunda police sub-inspector (SI) Ashraf Siddiqui filed the case on Tuesday (7 June) night. The accused have been charged with manslaughter by negligence.

The accused are BM container depot General Manager Nazmul Akhter Khan, Deputy General Manager (Operations) Nurul Akhter Khan, Manager (Administration) Khaledur Rahman, Assistant Administrative Officer Abbas Ullah, Senior Executive (Administration) Nasir Uddin, Assistant Manager Abdul Aziz, and Assistant Depot In charge Nazrul Islam.

Although there was a question about the responsibility of the owners after this horrible accident, none of the owners were accused in the case.

Till Wednesday morning, a total of 44 people have died from the fire at a BM container depot in the Sonaichhari area of ​​Sitakunda on Saturday night. Besides, more than a hundred employees and officials injured in the fire are undergoing treatment at various hospitals including Chamek Hospital, General Hospital, and Parkview Hospital.
