Firefighting exercise at Chittagong port

Fire fighting exercise has been held to increase the fire fighting capacity of Chittagong port and to prevent fire accidents. The exercise was held on Saturday (18 June) in front of the P Chemical Shed at the port. Port Board Member (Harbour and Marine) Commodore Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman was present at the occasion.

About 200 people including 20 officers and employees of the fire department of the security department, transport department, mechanical department, and marine department, and members of the Bangladesh Army deployed at the port participated in the exercise.

2 fire tenders, 1 rescue tender, and all types of small and large fire extinguishers were used in the exercise.

At the beginning of the exercise, information regarding the use of different types of extinguishers was given. Later, exercises on transferring containers, and extinguishing fires from solid, liquid, and electrical sources were conducted. In addition to this, it was demonstrated how to put out fires at extreme temperatures creating high-pressure water spray and water jet at the same time.
