The cars stuck at Chittagong port have been auctioned again. 34 cars were sold in this auction. Among them, the highest price was raised for a car of the Range Rover brand. The car is priced at Tk 72 lacs.
Last week, the customs authority issued orders to sell the cars to the highest bidders. Never before have so many cars been sold at an auction at once.
Of the 108 vehicles auctioned last month, 34 were sold at reasonable prices by the customs authority. On average, each car has been sold for Tk 32 lacs including VAT and advance income tax. In all, the government’s revenue has been Tk 10 crores and 90 lacs.
Cars from 10 brands were sold in the auction. These brands include Range Rover, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, Ford, Toyota Land Cruiser, Cherokee, Honda, and Mitsubishi. There were 10 cars of BMW brand, 8 of Mercedes brand, 3 of Honda and Range Rover brand in the auction. There are one or two cars of the other brands.
