Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce said that exporters will be able to sell leather abroad if they get the international leather export certificate within the next year. He said this while visiting various leather buying centres in Kharampur Mohalla of Sherpur district town on Thursday (14 July) morning.
During this time, the Secretary said that this year the government has managed leather much better compared to the last few years, and the price has been set higher than in other years. However, those who claimed that they did not get good prices had to pay extra for cleaning the leather because the flesh was still stuck in them.
He said that the special vigilance of the law and order forces has been increased at the border so that the leather cannot go abroad illegally. We have not got the international leather export certificate due to various environmental reasons.
