Memorandum of understanding to increase trade in Brazil

FBCCI President Jashim Uddin signed this agreement with Brazil's Rio de Janeiro Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sao Paulo Chamber of Commerce

The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with two commercial organisations in Brazil to develop trade relations with the country. The company has entered into this agreement to create and expand new markets for Bangladesh. The FBCCI informed in a press release on Friday (22 July).

The two agreements were signed in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 20 and 21 July. FBCCI President Jashim Uddin signed this agreement with Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sao Paulo Chamber of Commerce.

In the notification, FBCCI said that FBCCI has taken initiatives to develop commercial relations with Brazil. As part of that, they have signed a memorandum of understanding with two of the country’s most influential commercial organisations.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Brazil Sadia Faizunnessa, and President of Brazil-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce Shahriar Ahmed were present during the signing of the agreement. State Minister of Foreign Affairs on a state visit last Sunday. A delegation from Bangladesh headed by Md. Shahriar Alam went to Brazil.

FBCCI President Md. Jashim Uddin said that Bangladesh now needs to discover and expand new markets. Alongside that, diversification of export products and cheap sources of import of necessary products should be found. There is an opportunity to strengthen Bangladesh’s presence in the South American market through Brazil. The agreement will strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.

Earlier, the FBCCI president held a separate meeting with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Development Agency (APEX Brazil) and the National Industry Confederation (CNI). Bilateral trade and investment opportunities, obstacles, and possible solutions were discussed in these meetings.
