Saudi businessmen are invited to increase investment and trade in Bangladesh

The Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary called upon the businessmen of Tabuk province of Saudi Arabia to invest in Bangladesh and increase bilateral trade. He made this call during a meeting with Imad Sadad Al Fakhri, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. This was announced in a press release on Monday (1 August).

Ambassador Javed Patwari requested Saudi businessmen and investors to come forward for investment through Bangladesh Investment Development Authority and Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority. He mentioned that Saudi businessmen will be guaranteed all the facilities in Bangladesh. Besides, the ambassador told the Chamber President that the Bangladesh government is planning to create a separate economic zone for Saudi investors.

At that time, Chamber President Imad Sadad Al Fakhri told Bangladeshi businessmen that Bangladeshi businessmen can invest in favourable sectors of Saudi Arabia’s Neom City project and the Red Sea project. Tabuk Chamber is acting as coordinator for the investment in these two projects.

The Chamber President said that Bangladesh is not only a country that sends migrant workers to Saudi Arabia, but there is a lot of potentials to increase business between the two countries, which we need to take advantage of.

At that time, Ambassador Mohammad Javed Patwary said that Bangladesh can invest in pharmaceuticals, ceramic products, agricultural products, and electronics products. Highlighting the progress of Bangladesh in all these sectors, he requested Saudi businessmen to import necessary medicines from Bangladesh. Besides, the Ambassador also requested the Saudi businessmen to import handicrafts, ready-made garments, and leather products from Bangladesh.

Mohammad Javed Patwary sought assistance in working together to implement Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Bangladesh’s Vision 2041. Tabuk Chamber has about 32 thousand members. Officials of the Tabuk Chamber of Commerce were present at the meeting.

Earlier, Ambassador Javed Patwary met with Tabuk University President rector Professor Abdullah M Althiabi.
At this time, the Ambassador requested the rector to increase the number of scholarships for Bangladeshi students in this university. The rector said that some Bangladeshi teachers are in the process of being recruited into this university after requesting the appointment of teachers from Bangladesh. Some Bangladeshi students are studying here. Rector expressed his interest in taking more students from Bangladesh under education scholarships for various subjects. Currently, about 33 thousand students are studying at this university.

Consul General of Bangladesh in Jeddah Md. Nazmul Haque and other officials of the embassy were present at the meeting.
