Chittagong Customs House started the new fiscal year with positive growth in revenue collection. Revenue collection in the first month of the current fiscal year has increased by about 43% compared to the same period last year. 8% more revenue than the target has been collected in July.
The revenue target for July was Tk 4 thousand and 482 crores. Against this, Tk 4 thousand 838 crores and 51 lacs have been collected. Tk 356 crores and 51 lacs more revenue has been collected than the set target. Tk 3 thousand and 394 crores revenue was collected in July last year.
After the Russia-Ukraine war, imports of goods decreased. However, despite the decrease in imports, due to the increase in the exchange rate of the dollar, the price of goods has increased and due to this, the collection of customs duties has also increased.
