Import-export trade through Benapole port has been closed since Tuesday (9 August) morning. Joint Commissioner of Benapole Customs House, Abdur Rashid Mia said that due to the government holiday on the occasion of Holy Ashura, all kinds of import-export trade including the goods clearance process from the port are closed.
Hundreds of cargo trucks are stuck in the port areas of the two countries due to the postponement of import-export trade. Commodities that are stuck include – perishable fish, fruits, onions, rice, and raw materials of various garments industries and industrial factories.
Joint Commissioner A. Rashid Mia said that import-export will resume from Wednesday.
