Even in the midst of the economic crisis brewed from the Russia-Ukraine war, Bangladesh’s apparel export to the European Union (EU) countries grew 45% to $11.31 billion during the January-June period of this year, according to European Commission’s trade statistic Eurostat.
EU’s global import in January grew by 25.03% during the January-June period, where China was the top apparel source for the EU posting a 21.78% growth to $12.22 billion.
Turkey being the third largest apparel source of the EU posted 20.38% year-over-year growth. The EU imported $10.89 billion worth of clothing from Turkey. Other top countries having high growth were Cambodia 24.90%, Pakistan 40.15%, Indonesia 32.28%, and India 28.64%.
