The port authority has introduced a 100% online delivery order (DO) system for releasing goods from Chittagong port.
The system was piloted by six shipping lines last December; After that, it was opened for everyone, but from November 1, the system has been made mandatory and launched in full force.
Before this, in case of clearance of goods from the port, the traditional method had to go directly with documents and take application and permission. The port authorities hope that the introduction of the new system will reduce the suffering.
Along with this, time will also be saved to obtain clearance of goods. Port users call this initiative a breakthrough initiative to move towards a modern automated port.
Bangladesh Freight Forwarders Association Vice President Khairul Alam Sujan said, ‘This is a landmark step of Chittagong Port in moving towards digital port. Now C&F agents can apply for delivery orders even at night. This will save a lot of time.
