100 tonnes of garments imported at duty free facility seized

In a raid on Sunday afternoon, customs intelligence and investigation directorate officials seized a large quantity of raw material of garments imported at duty free facility from a bonded warehouse.

Customs detectives said the goods seized from the bonded warehouse of 4H Group in Chittagong’s Dewanhat area were stored for sale in the open market. Preparations are underway to move the seized goods to the Customs auction shed in 7 covered vans.

Saifur Rahman, Joint Director of Customs Intelligence Chittagong Office, said that the products of other companies of 4H Group were brought and deposited here instead of being exported for sale in the open market.

According to the law, there is no opportunity of keeping the goods of any other company in the warehouse of the bonded company.
