Chittagong Port marked the 74th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal

Chittagong Port Authority has celebrated, through various programmes, the 74th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the Bengali nation, a sports organiser, and a valiant freedom fighter on Saturday (August 5). The day was observed through prayers, discussion meetings and organising essay and quiz competitions with the participation of the students.

Acting Chairman and Member (Engineering) Commodore Md. Mahbubur Rahman was the chief guest. Director (Admin) Md. Mominur Rashid presided over the programmes.

Sheikh Kamal was born on 5th August 1949 in the Tungipara village of Gopalganj. Sadly, on August 15, 1975, this young man’s bright future ended suddenly when he was only 26 years old. He, his revered father Bangabandhu, and their whole family fell victim to a misguided faction of army officers.
