Four shipping lines have announced a stop to shipping to Russia in the wake of Russia’s ongoing attack on Ukraine. As a result, export goods are stuck in Chittagong port and private ICDs. The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) first announced the closure of shipping on the 1st of this month. Added to the list are Denmark-based Maersk Line, Germany-based Hapag Lloyd, and Singapore-Japan-based One Line.

According to trade officials, Bangladeshi garments exporters are facing trouble due to the reluctance of shipping companies to transport goods to Russia. Russia-bound goods are awaiting export at private ICDs and Chittagong port. Some products are also being manufactured in the factory for export. The entrepreneurs in the garments sector are worried because of such a situation.
