Chittagong port celebrated the historic 7 March

Port Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan was the chief guest at the historic 7 March Conference

The Chittagong Port Authority has celebrated the historic 7 March through discussion meetings, photo exhibitions, and award distribution ceremonies. The discussion meeting was held at Shahid Mohammed Fazlur Rahman Munshi Auditorium Monday (7 March) morning. Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, NPP, BCGMS, NDC, PSC, was present as the chief guest. Special guests were the Port Board Member (Administration and Planning) Md. Zafar Alam, Member (Finance) Md. Kamrul Amin, Member (Harbour and Marine) Commodore Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Member (Engineering) Captain Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, Director (Administration) Md. Mominur Rashid. Besides, port department heads, deputy heads, heads of educational institutions, CBA leaders, students, and guests were present on the occasion.

Speaking as the chief guest at the discussion meeting, Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, Chairman of the Port, said that the speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 7 March is the source of our national inspiration. The Bengali nation plunged into the armed liberation war after being inspired by the historic speech delivered by Bangabandhu at the Racecourse Ground on this day in 1971. We gained independence after nine months of a violent liberation war.

Board member (Administration and Planning) Md. Jafar Alam said that the whole Bengali nation was moved by Bangabandhu’s speech on 7 March. Under his direction, the Bengalis ultimately achieved independence through war.

Two of the students, Mitali Palit, Acting Principal of Chittagong Port College, and Nayebul Islam Fatik, General Secretary of Chittagong Port Employees’ Council addressed the meeting.

At the end of the discussion, the Chairman of the port distributed prizes among the winners of various competitions held among the students of different educational institutions. Then photographs of Bangabandhu’s life and work were displayed.
